Nikon M-308 Riflescope Review
Nikon is a company famous for its camera and optical equipments. It produces quality optics for sports uch as riflescopes. One of its products, the Nikon M-308 4-16×42 Riflescope BDC 800 Reticle is designed for high caliber and long-range shooting. Shooters use riflescopes to aid them in a more precise and accurate shooting. Designed with Nikon Spot On Ballistic Match Technology, the Nikon M-308 has features for aiming and determining specific ammunition and load. This product is also designed using Nikon’s Precision AR Optic technology for a long-range accuracy and larger magnification. With the Nikon M-308 Riflescope, images spotted through the scope are brighter, sharper, and stays flat. The product comes with a Niko flip-up lens cap and Nikon windage and elevation caps.
Material and Design
The Nikon M-308 Riflescope is merged into a one-piece main body tube measuring a total of 13.5 inches. This is to ensure maximum strength and durability and to minimize time assembling the pieces. The length of the scope will fit most weapons and will not take too much space in the bad. The riflescope only weighs 1.4 pounds. The product is also nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed for a waterproof, shockproof, and fogproof advantage. Even during bad weather or in a gruesome terrain, the Nikon M-308 will still work accordingly. It also has a built-in 20 MOA slope and an enhanced mount ring space for mounting versatility. With this mounting slope, the head and neck will be in a more comfortable position. The product comes in a black color and matte finish.
Magnification
Designed using Nikon’s Precision AR Optic Technology, it has a magnification range of 4 to 16 power. It also has a large objective diameter measuring at 42 mm for bigger light capacity. Like most riflescopes, the eye relief is measured at 3.7 to 4 inches since the product is used for long-range shooting and higher recoiling guns. Field of view is at 6.3 to 25.2 feet at 100 yards. It works well up to a range of 800 yards.
Optic Performance
The fully multicoated optics and Ultra Clear Coat Optical System allow for 95% light transmission for brighter and clearer images from dusk to dawn. The multicoated optics reduces glare and reflection during sunny days. The exit pupil is designed at 2.6 to 10.5 mm to ensure eye comfort and sufficient entry of light even with poor lighting conditions. The BDC 800 reticle feature of Nikon riflescopes, which is also included in this product, offers an advantage through its see-through ballistic circles. Even if used for long-range shooting, the BDC 800 reticle will allow the shooter to see a normal sight picture so that the target is on point. Also, due to its multicoated lens, the Nikon M-308 riflescope can stand any weather and will remain waterproof and fogproof.
Other Features
The product features a Spring-Loaded Instant Zero Reset Turrets which makes adjustment easy while shooting. Even with heavy recoil, the settings remain the same. The Nikon M-308 also has a side focus and parallax adjustment features. It is also designed using Nikon’s unique Spot On Ballistic Match Technology. With this tech, the shooter will be able to identify exactly the aiming points, within a range of 200 to 800 yards, to determine specific ammunition and load. In addition, Nikon has a mobile app to aid in accurately computing ballistic match.

- Optics is clear and works as advertised.
Cons
- Too expensive compared to other products with the same performance.
- Light transmission is not that great because it has a bit of delay.
- Parallax needs improvement.
- Turrets have a problem aligning at zero and tube rings loosen occasionally.
- BDC 800 reticle is not 100% accurate. It may be used as a quick estimate, but using the application is more preferable.
At most, Nikon riflescopes are included in the list of best rimfire riflescopes. Customers who bought and used the product claim that the optic performance of the Nikon M-308 is incomparable. The Precision AR Optic Technology and BDC 800 reticle are the most notable features of this riflescope.
